Dinner for New Residents

Dinner for New Residents, Fall 2021

More than one hundred new Martha Cook residents were formally welcomed to the building at the fall 2021 Dinner for New Residents. With the term successfully underway in all areas of campus life, including here at Martha Cook, our new residents very much enjoyed one of the building’s favorite traditions.

College students’ schedules are increasingly fast-paced and demanding, and so dinner was more fluid than in the past to acknowledge the culture of today’s Martha Cook residents. Our new Cookies each received their own invitation to the elegant buffet dinner, and of course were presented with their yellow roses and oak leaves. Returning residents organized a pre-dinner gathering in the Gold Room where new residents learned to sing, and rehearsed, Martha Cook’s Grace. William Cook’s Steinway had been tuned just the week before, and was a welcomed addition to the rehearsal. Once nearly every seat in the dining room was occupied, the returning and new residents asked everyone to stand, and sang Grace in welcome to a new year at Martha Cook.
